Mondays class 1-25-2010

I wasn't 100% sure I was allowed to do sparring so I had someone call my doc. & the bottom line is that I CAN!!! So I can't wait to order my gear through my KSW school!!!!


Monday's (1/25/10) class was awesome!!! we started by stretching then moving to doing a kicking excrise in which my master added a new kick after we all had done the 1st one 7xs total of 5 kicks put together & after we finished lets say the first one then adding the new on then we would have to do the 1st then the new 7x etc intill we were doing all 5 of them in 7 rips!!!!

after that we started doing continuous cartwheels down then mat but the way I saw everyone in front of me I though it was a special kind of a karate cartwheel so when I got up to the front of the line I asked my master if it was a special cart wheel or just a regular one. He replied a regular one. So I started doing the continuous cartwheels down the mat. Then the second time when I did it I didn't know but the master was watching me & when I was finished he was like " good job Lu"! & he high fived me! Then when I returned to the back of the line once again. Hearing the master's instructions this time to only notice that we are now doing one handed cartwheels down the mat! I was thinking" I don't know if I could do this." But I was watching everyone in front of me & I was trying to figure out fast how to do it. Although I do know how to do a cartwheel pickup I tricked my self thinking I was going to do a cartwheel pick up but in mid air before I put my hand down on the mat I picked up the other one. I guess that was ok to do that in order to be able to do a one handed cartwheel.? I guess I would practice just a one handed cartwheel without doing that! The Master separated the class my ranks & he teach us the white belts how to do a front roll expect that u don't roll on your head but on your back. & once again because of my little time in gymtastics I was able to get it the first time!!! but when I did it on the other side of the mat it kinda throw me off but overall I got how to do it. The Master then showed us how do to it from a stand up position & again I got it the first time! But I was kinda dizzy from all the cartwheels & front rolls. we also learned some Techniques!

Sweet & Sour Moments

Last nite I have learned 2 more techniques the 3rd one was a little bit hard to learn but I still have to practice on it. I have half of it down! :) & I just learned it last nite! I've also learned something new its kinda like wrestling on the floor but the one person gets on the person that is laying on the back in a horse position or something like that. After we were doing it for at least 15 mins or 5 mins & after I went home & was in the tube relaxing I felt my knee & it kinda hurt but there was no black or blue where it was hurting when I would put my hand in that one spot on my knee. So after I took my bath & went to take to my grandma to see what she would say & told me to go ahead & call the doc. So I got in a little depressed mood & when I went to say good nite to my mom. She could tell something was wrong & she asked me so I processed to tell her what I told my grandma & she told me that if the doc told me if I could do everything before then it was ok. My mom also told me that maybe I could call his office & have him call me back. But I didn't want to go to see him cause I didn't know if he wanted to take X -rays & I don't have any idea how much that would be! Plus I don't what to just waste $50 just to go in & the doc says yes u can continue kuk sool won! Well right now im in an nervous worried & depressed mood right now. Waiting on what the doc is going to say about this?
IF i can't do it anymore what is life going to be like afterwards?!?!?! I  LOVE KUK SOOL WON!!!!! Its like right after you break up with someone & you don't know how u are going to go on well thats how i kinda feel!  My mind is filled with WHAT IFs , WHAT AM I GONNA DOs , HOWs and WHYs.

Class Belt Levels?

As i was driving to work today a question rose up once again. I wonder what belt level is to be within the following classes :

Beginner
Intermediate/Advanced

The only reason why i ask this is because when i went to the beginners class there were a red , brown , black! & of course white belts there! but i don't really understand why there were other advanced belts at the beginners couse ( well maybe they are freshing their memory) but there was all different kinds of belts at both of the beginners classes that i went to this week! I thought that they would have them in a class that would suit them with the level of experience & also what they need to learn in order to move up to the next belt but how can u do that when u have them all mixed in together u wouldn't be able to just teach the whites the basics of whever & then also teach lets just say the blue belts what they need to learn before the testing?

Thoughts

My School that im with right now is in the mist of moving there's a good side & a bad side to it.
The good side to it is that im glad I joined now than rather after they moved cause if they didn't update there website then I would think I would have gone to the old site rather then the new one! The bad side to it is that I will NOT have my uniform intill we are all situated over in the new location. Which to me isn't a BIG problem for me but like what I have experienced wednesday nite when my partner showed me how to tie my well loaned white belt on while she helped me put it on. I think I have the idea of how to wrap it around you but the problem comes in when u are to slide one under & the other something else & then tie it!!! Well I guess I will learn over time ! :P  But i what to get as good as possible before moving over to the new place cuase i have seen it & the practice area is where everyone can see you !!!

1st class of Sparring & Grappling

1/13/10 - class experience
Well I was a little nervous before leaving for class.  I have gotten over the nervousness of going there the very 1st time (sometimes i will stay in a very light nervousness stage intill i feel comfortable like going to a friends house.)& all but the fact that my Master was teaching us sparring & grappling !! I had no idea what that was at all!!! I found out later! lol After the kids class had ended was the time to be real nervous for me but I wasn’t. So I met some more new people at the KSW Academy! I though that they were going to teach us the full 100% of it in that class & have us doing it like we were in a tournament! But my mind was racing & it never did stop! lol but I guess I was thinking to fast down the line cause they wouldn't expect us to be sparring like if we were at a tournament!!! So at the end I kinda liked it!! & I got the hang of it & all! So our master told us once we were done going against our partner that we were to switch groups. So I was blessed to have a red belt to be my partner ( I tell ya why it was a blessing in a minute) because she challenged me to learn from her moves & how she blocked! Even tho the master showed us what to do & how to do it. It was still a challenge to me but in the end I won one time & she won the first time!

Soreness - Sparring & Grappling 1stie

As I look on the calendar & see that tonight’s class is on sparring & grappling im thrown into yet another nervousness not like on monday nite (1st class) but like something that I never did before with a sport or activity that im fine in ( just a tad nervous well ok maybe more that a tad more). I have no NO idea what sparring & grappling is all about but I guess I will find out tonight! :)  :(  :|  !!!! Everyone within the school is real nice & I love love the way we have to show respect before beginning & ending of the class & right when u walk into class as well as when u leave class!!! I can’t wait intill I get to the point where I wil be training with a staff!!! Now im buzy most of the week since im in kuk sool won.


But I do have a few questions for any of my fellow readers out there that had experience in Kuk Sool Won. What do I do to get the soreness to go away ? I heard on http://www.martialartsplanet.com/ ( forums( my ID on there is Young Warrior) ) that drinking a chocolate milkshake could help is that true? When you first started what did you do about your soreness & how did you get it to go away? Im open to anything. For like I said my week is now busy

I wonder here i can fit into go to the gym? OR should i wait intill im done being sore from my KSW classes to start going to the gym? or should i go to the gym while im still sore & just do light workouts like just walking on the tradmill not to slow & not to fast. hmmm  i don't know.

1st Day NEVER EVER FORGET!!!!

I was real nervous so I didn’t eat anything at all! I only drank some orange juice & ate a bite of a cracker. Then I was off to the martial arts school.! When I got to the school I saw a kid out of a car & went to the door then headed back to the car & got in & drove away. So when I was getting out of my car I accidentally set off the car alarm !!! I got it off kinda fast. when I got to the door there was a latter on it & it said that their school moved two doors down to the left after velocity & so I got back in my car & drove 2 doors down but I couldn’t find it so I parked & got out & tried to find it but I couldn’t so I got back into the car & I turned on the lights & had my seatbelt on & put the car in reverse but I didn’t have the keys in the car! Lol ( u could tell by this that I was kinda nervous eh?) Well I drove back & put my emergency lights on & I when to the door where the letter was & it had a number on it & I called it but it went right to voicemail. So I had this one number in my cell that someone from the academy had called me earlier in the day. I call the number & I told the lady that I couldn’t find it so she help me find it & while driving I accidentally hit the windshield wipers !! so I eventually got it to stop & I parked & I went in & I met her. She is a nice lady! So here I was in the class & the KSW instructor came over to me & he asked how did u find us & I told him how I find them on the internet & he asked me what kind of dancing do I do & I told him that I had 4 yrs of basic ballet , jazz, 1 or less yrs for gymnastics then I had 2 yrs of Pointe & modern lyrical.


I surprised my master when we were stretching ! Almost all the stretching he told us to do I could to completely!!!! I tell ya that dance training really came in handy!!! So as the class moved on I was teach how to do a basic high kick then a inside kick as well as an outside kick which I really surprised my master so he saw that my partner had raised the pork chop & I was still clearing it!!!!! Thanks to learning the fan kick in dance! :P

So after that excise I started to feel a little bit of dizziness & light headed so I asked where I could get some water so they told me where to go. So After I got some water I still felt kinda dizzy so I went into the restroom / locker & sat down & I was feeling dizzy & nauseous & then I started to cough & then I throw – up after that I felt fine so I got up & was slowly walking around & then I splashed some clod water on my face & made sure that I was ok to go back into the class. When I reentered the class they were doing some techniques & im thinking woo I don’t think I could do this. But then my master saw that I was back & I got back into the class & my partner teach me the 1st 2 techniques within Kuk Sool Won! & I caught on fast! The Master called everyone into a line & we did a front kick & after we kicked we had to hold it there & then start to circle the leg but course I couldn’t to that! Then we did the other side too as well! The master then instructed us to balance on one foot & strength our other foot out but the mat was slippery & of course I was losing my balance because of that! lol He lined us up agatised the wall & we did a side kick then we had to hold it there !!! We did our left side 1st but I didn’t do so good! But when we did the other side I was able to hold it up there like one of the guys that was a blue belt!!! & the Master was surprised again! That was the 1st day of training !!!! I will never forget that day ever!!!!!
